After a hiatus during the Durga Puja carnival, aspirants seeking employment in schools resumed their protest in Kolkata on Sunday, expressing their grievances that have persisted for months. A protester, adorned as Goddess Lakshmi, emphasized the irony of worshiping the deity of wealth with empty hands, urging the Chief Minister to fill vacant positions and grant them appointments.
Expressing frustration, another job seeker lamented the unexpected turn of events, stating that after passing exams and investing substantial sums of money, resorting to a sit-in to demand employment was unforeseen. The plea directed at the Chief Minister was straightforward—address their demand for jobs.
Renowned theatre personality Kaushik Sen and his son, actor Riddhi Sen, visited the demonstrators, pledging their support. Kaushik Sen underscored the need for political parties to recognize the alleged corruption within the Trinamool Congress. He emphasized that the legitimate demands of these job seekers should not become entangled in political maneuvering.
